Mac Haik Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram

For years, Ford’s F-Series has been the best-selling truck in the U.S., with the Chevrolet Silverado coming in second, and Ram placing third. Usually, Ram ends up a distant third, too. This week, however, something different happened. When sales for the first quarter of 2019 were added up, the F-Series was still number one, but Ram was comfortably number two.

What’s possibly more surprising is that Silverado sales have dropped significantly. So far this year, Chevrolet has sold 114,313 Silverados, a near-16-point decrease compared to the same period last year. GMC Sierra sales are also down slightly, dropping 2.2 percent to 40,546. Ram’s truck sales, on the other hand, increased 15 percent last quarter to 120,026.

2019 Ram 1500 Review

Fiat Chrysler’s Ram closed the gap dramatically on Silverado from 2017 to 2018, according to Kelley Blue Book:

  • Ram sold 22% of pickups purchased, climbing to 536,980 from 500,723.
  • Chevy sold 24% of pickups purchased, holding steady at 585,581 compared with 585,864.

Let’s Get Down To The Details…….

In the world of full-size pickup trucks, Fiat Chrysler’s Ram 1500 has long been a distant third in sales behind General Motor’s Chevy Silverado and Ford’s F-150. We think the redesigned model is the company’s best chance yet at catching up.

While it offers staggering capability, serious technology and incredible on-road manners that impressed us during a weeklong test. finally, it’s not just the best Ram ever, the Ram 1500 is the best truck you can buy today.

The Good

First of all, to anyone who doesn’t understand the pickup truck craze, we prescribe a few minutes in a Ram for you to figure it out.

while scoff all you want at the $66,370 sticker price of our Ram 1500 Laramie tester, but consider the following. It offers more rear legroom than a $90,000 Mercedes S-Class executive sedan, more cargo and passenger space than the $72,530 BMW X5 luxury family SUV we tested, more power than a $74,160 BMW sports sedan and more towing capacity than a $98,230 Lincoln Navigator.

And it’s not just features and specs; the 2019 Ram feels entirely like a luxury product. There’s a well-trimmed interior with a massive, Tesla-style portrait touch screen. There are massive heated and cooled seats that are comfortable for long hauls. There’s effortless power around town and precious little cabin noise on the freeway.

Plus, we love the way the Ram rides. While other trucks and full-size SUVs tend to have some business in the ride at high speeds, the Ram is never unsettled. We also like the way it handles; though it makes no attempts to be sporty or otherwise exciting, it doesn’t lumber about with the sloppiness of, say, a Toyota Tundra.

as a result the 2019 Ram 1500 also sweats the small stuff with tons of thoughtful details throughout the truck. The locking boxes on the side of the bed are watertight and can be drained, However, in case you need some impromptu coolers. most noteworthy the center console is reconfigurable with sliding cup holder trays.

Let’s Take a Look Inside The 2019 Ram 1500.

first of all, peek under the lids, and you’ll see helpful conversion charts and formula references useful to any contractors who happen to buy a Ram. Below, as a result, there’s a cute depiction of the Ram truck lineage driving through the center console.

first of all convenience wise, we counted two 110-volt power outlets, four USB-C ports, five USB-A ports and a wireless charging pad. Add in the standard 12-volt plugs, and you’re set to power a small hospital should the need arise.

Finally, the 5.7-liter engine is a workhorse. while it’s not loud or obtrusive, but it delivers 380 horsepower and over 400 foot-pounds of torque. Spec a Ram right, and you’ll be able to tow a V-8 best-in-class at 12,750 pounds.

The Bad

Consequently, while the portrait style touch screen looks cool, it’s not nearly as seamless as Fiat Chrysler’s smaller displays. furthermore, the software isn’t quite there, as certain menus are confusing and tapping on an information area doesn’t always lead to where you’d expect.

first of all, it’s a decent figure for the class, but it’s still a thirsty machine. hence, If you don’t plan to tow, there’s a mild-hybrid V-6 “eTorque” engine that costs less and delivers 19 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway.

How We’d Option It

Likewise, The beauty of these trucks is that you can get them however you like them. Regular cab, extended cab, crew cab, long bed, short bed, wide bed, with Ram boxes, V-6, V-8 without eTorque, V-8 with eTorque, four-wheel drive or two-wheel drive. Finally, that’s before you get to options and trims.

Mopar introduced an accessorized 2019 Ram 2500 HD at the 2019 Chicago Auto Show.

The new 2019 Ram Heavy Duty Lone Star builds on the recently revealed trucks, and gets a series of (mostly cosmetic) upgrades to appeal to the cowboys and girls in the state that not only ranks as the second largest and second most populous in the Union, but its largest single market for pickup trucks as well.

The 2019 Ram 2500 and 3500 HD Lone Star editions are distinguishable from other Rams by their special tailgate badging and some unique interior touches. Ram isn’t pushing the whole cowboy aesthetic quite as hard as it did with the Ram Laramie Longhorn this time, so don’t expect all the tooled leather and tassels here.

2019 Ram Lone Star HD

While the Lone Star edition is primarily an appearance package, it also comes with a Class V hitch and electronic trailer brake control and power tow mirrors as standard equipment. Apart from that, you have access to all the Ram goodies that we saw during the truck’s debut in Detroit earlier this year including a new diesel engine that produces 1,000 pound-feet of torque.

Ram hasn’t made mention of pricing for the Lone Star edition, but we expect that information to become available closer to launch.

1977 Dodge D100 Warlock

Warlock history
In 1976, the first production Dodge Warlock was introduced following the public’s positive response to a pickup originally designed as an auto show concept vehicle. The Warlock was a factory-personalized pickup that could “play as hard as it works,” according to the period literature, complete with bucket seats, “fancy wheels, fat tires,” chrome-plated running boards, real oak sideboards and special gold accent stripes inside and out. Production ran until 1979.

Ram 1500 Classic
The 2019 Ram 1500 Classic boasts numerous segment-exclusive features in areas most important to truck buyers. Outstanding ride and handling is accomplished via a unique link-coil rear suspension. Other features, such as RamBox bedside storage, hidden bins and a flat-load floor, offer unique solutions for cargo. New “Classic” badging is located on the front fenders.

The 1500 Classic Warlock will be produced at the Warren (Mich.) Truck Assembly Plant, which has built more than 12.5 million trucks since it started operations in 1938.

“The new Ram 1500 makes a bold statement with its overall design, functionality, lighter weight and notable efficiency for a full-size pickup,” Ron Cogan, editor and publisher of Green Car Journal and greencarjournal.com, said. “Plus, its use of electrification through eTorque mild hybrid technology in both the 3.6-liter V-6 and 5.7-liter HEMI® V-8 is compelling in today’s pickup market. It is clearly a deserving winner of the title 2019 Green Truck of the Year.”
